FATHER'S DAY

Our family couldn't ask for a more wonderful DAD! I couldn't have done this without you sweetie. You have been the best father for our family! How grateful I have been for your gentle, loving strength, your example of how to treat a wife, your faithful service in the Lord's kingdom and your priesthood power. You have taught our children love, tolerance, patience and service.

Manja's grateful list:
  • Thank you for knowing how to fix EVERYTHING!!
  • And how to build almost anything!!
  • Thank you for teaching our children principles of righteousness.
  • Thank you for the camping trips, the boating trips, and teaching Anne had to drive a manual transmission!
  • Thank you for showing your sons how to use the priesthood.
  • Thank you for helping us save energy by your constant, never ending, always consistent reminders of "TURN THOSE LIGHTS OFF!! and "ARE WE COOLING THE ENTIRE OUTDOORS??" (Energy Nazi)
  • Thank you for knowing how to have fun with golf and basketball and racquetball and waterskiing and snowskiing and biking and hiking and singing and being in plays.
  • Thank you for helping Taylor rebuild a go-cart engine and helping Daniel replace the breaks on his car while he is in Ohio and you are in Utah.
  • Thank you for letting Manja have whatever color she wants on the walls in the house.
  • Thank you for always being willing to kill spiders.
  • Thank you for loving us!
You're the best Bryan, love Manja

We had a wonderful Father's Day this year. Everyone gathered at Manja's parents for a steak dinner (man food!!). Then we gathered at Bryan's parents' home to visit with them for a bit.

OGDEN TIGER MARCHING BAND

Taylor VB
Tuesday June 10, 2008

Yesterday (Monday) I showed up in the band room at 7:00a.m. It was the start of the week long Marching Band Parade Camp. This is where we learn or relearn how to march in parade form (which is pretty close to field show form). This year is the year that the middle schools change back to junior highs, so we do not have any beginning marchers. That is nice because Mr. Park (who is leaving us for Kaysville Junior High) doesn't have to teach the new people how to march correctly. Marching is not just stomping your feet around the streets, but it is a very delicate process of counting keeping your toes high and making sure your upper body posture is straight and you are keeping your horn angle straight. Marching is correctly called "GLID STEEPING" and no we are not gliding like Michael Caine in "Miss Congeniality"! This is my second year of marching. It has been way fun. I haven't marched since November of 2007, so I am a little rusty. It was very nice to be able to review the glide steeping basics but it was also nice to be out on the streets waking the neighborhood up as we played "Ganna Fly Now (the theme from Rocky)". We are still a little rusty but we are much better than we were last year. We are also playing "El Gato" in the parades. Both of these songs we have are playing, we have played before in pep-band, so all we have to do is learn them all the way CORRECTLY and then memorize them. I have to say the trumpets (which I play) did not do so well today on the streets. That is because we do not have it memorized quite yet. After the second day of Parade Marching Band Camp my lips are not in shape but they will be by the end of the week and my shoulders are starting to hurt from holding up my trumpet so straight. I am also trying to get back in the trumpet fingerings because I have played the French Horn all year and it has different fingerings, so I am having to switch from one to one.

MANJA'S 50TH BIRTHDAY BASH!

Manja's husband and children planned a great party to celebrate her 50th birthday.

Bryan enlisted Quinn's help in composing the "birthday poem invitation" and invited plenty of family, friends and neighbors. All the kids and Grandma and Grandpa scoured scrapbooks and slides to find the very best pictures of Manja (the very best all occurred before the age of 8).
All of this was done in total secrecy (sort of) and used by Quinn to create another birthday DVD extravaganza filled with 1958 trivia and a photo tribute to the newest "Golden Girl".

The day of the party was absolutely picture perfect weather!! Carly came from Cedar City (and brought her boyfriend, Jeff). My sister even drove in from Vernal just for the party. We gathered a little before the party at Beus Pond and had some family pictures taken. To preview some of them, go to veronicareeve.com. She did Anne's senior pictures and is just great!!

Then we returned home for a couple more pictures and the party. Friends, family, and neighbors all came and shared in some cake and memories.

Thanks family for all your love and support.
You mean everything to me. Love Mom

Enjoy some of the pictures from the party.

Manja and Bryan's parents, obviously worried that
they could possibly have children this old.
