Well, as most of you don't know Ogden High got a new band and orchestra teacher, Mr. Gillette, this year. He moved to Utah from Michigan. He has noticed a lot of weird things about Utah. Here is a list of a few.
- One day out on the field he noticed quite a few Seagulls flying around, he then asked what's up with all of these weird birds. We then informed him like so, "you know that is our state bird you are talking about, right?!?" What these ugly things, are you kidding me, are you kidding?!?!? replied Mr. Gillette Even though we should have told him the story of the California Seagull becoming our state bird, but none of us remembered it.
- At the week long band camp over the summer, Mr. Gillette could not belief the size of the the bugs here. Every time a dragonfly came near him he would freak out. He also thought the misquotes were huge also. The other day he saw a leaf bug (Katydid) for the first time. He thought it was so cool, he stopped the whole practice just so he could look at it.
- Also at band camp he made a reference to the movie, 300. He asked if anyone had seen it and had understood the reference. Maybe 3 people raised their hands. He asked, "why haven't any of you guys seen it, it such a good movie." We all responded, "well, it's rated R!" He said back, "why does that matter?" No one didn't really want to explain to him, that most of the band is LDS and that we don't watch R rated movies, so we just moved on with the practice.
- Apparently he hasn't made the switch to tiger orange yet, because he doesn't have a orange tie to wear to the competitions. His old school's colors were green, so we wears green shirts with a green tie. We need to give him so TIGER PRIDE, so we are buying him an orange tie!
