On Saturday we all traveled northeast of Vernal to the Jones Hole National Fish Hatchery area. A 2 mile trail took us to the cold, clear water of Ely Creek flowing out of a natural spring. Falling over rocks on its way to Jones Creek we hiked to this small waterfall where the kids played and splashed in the freezing water.
On Sunday, after Sacrament Meeting of course, we drove out to Dinosaur National Monument. Like most people, we've been to the museum in Vernal and out to the Dinosaur Quarry, but we had never ventured out to the actual Monument, part of the National Park Systems. We saw some beautiful country. Our picnic along a quiet bend in the Green River was interrupted by mountain goats walking through the area on their way to the water and river rafters on day 3 of their 4 day trip down the Green River.
Then we were off to Harper's Corner for a 1 mile walk/hike out to a beautiful overlook. This is the area in Colorado where the Yampa River and the Green River converge on their way to Flaming Gorge.
Sunday night we celebrated 3 birthdays and 2 anniversaries.

Bruce and Shelly celebrate 29 years, Mom and Dad celebrate 55 years with the cake that Heidi made especially for them!
And to our surprise - on Sunday evening Daniel called us from Minneapolis, Minnesota where he had just spent a few hours with his cousin Sister Jennifer Daniel who is serving a full time mission in Minnesota. What a surprise she had when she turned and saw Daniel and Hannah. Visiting Hannah's brother's family for the weekend, they asked around and found out that people in the area knew "Sister Daniel" and where she was that day. They waited outside a building for her and then Jennifer and her companion went to Hannah's brother's home for dinner. What a great treat to know that cousins were together in Utah and also in Minnesota the very same day!!
Monday, we finally just sat and rested. The kids played outside, the adults played cards.
